THE PROSPERITY OF JOB - JOB 1:1-22
Sunday School Studies Text...
INTRODUCTION:
The story of Job in the bible concerning what he passed through and still maintained his integrity in God is hard to belief, to the extent that many don't agree that Job was a human being like us, but he was. In verses 1-5 of our text, Job was exceedingly rich and prosperous and yet he was righteous with Godly fear, compared to what Jesus Christ said about the attitudes of many rich people in Mark 10vs24-25.
In verses 6-20 - Satan was permitted by God to try Job whether he will still love God in the face of that unbearable loss of all his children and properties without leaving anything for him, but in all these, he refused to blaspheme God - verses 21-22.
In chapter 2 verses 1-7, the great losses of Job didn't satisfy Satan because his main goal was pushing Job to deny his God, but he failed again - Job2vs8-10. Job refused his wife's wrong counsel because he knew his God - Philip.3vs7-10. Satan is the enemy of our souls; he uses many ways and people to distract our hearts from following and serving God as he did to Job. This teaches us to stand firm in faith and trust in our God for victory with a fixed heart when facing any trials and life's challenges - Rom.8vs35-39; 2Tim.1v12. Departing from the faith doesn't bring solution but more calamities - Heb.10vs38-39.
